Our Story

One summer night, fate had a plan in motion. At Gennaro's house, a group of friends were chatting about life and love. Among them was Zambrano, who mentioned a girl named Josefa. Intrigued, one of the friends, who would later become her future husband, asked to see her picture. The moment he saw her, he jokingly claimed "dibs," not realizing that this playful remark was the beginning of a beautiful journey. After following each other on Instagram, he sent her a message, and their story began.

From the start, he was enchanted by her beauty, intelligence, and infectious sense of humor. Josefa's first impression of him, however, was a bit different. She found him almost too relaxed, especially when he showed up an hour late for their first date with no reservations made. It wasn't the best start, but it was an unforgettable one.

Their first date turned into a comedic adventure. He picked her up in his mom’s SUV because his brother had taken their shared car. They tried going to Snakes n Lattes, but it was packed. The second location was no different. Finally, they ended up at a random restaurant in Toronto, eating bread and drinking coffee at 9 PM because they had already had dinner. It was far from perfect, but it was uniquely theirs.

Six months into their relationship, a trip to NYC sealed their love. He felt like he was with someone he had known forever. For her, the realization came one morning when she woke up to a spotless condo, her phone charged, and her Apple Watch ready for the day. That’s when she knew she loved him and felt completely safe with him.

Their journey has been filled with many cherished memories. A surprise trip to Chicago to see her favorite band, The Lumineers, was filled with laughter from the drive to the concert. They even got locked out on a balcony in Ottawa once, turning a stressful situation into a funny memory they now laugh about.

The proposal was a fairy tale come true. In Barbados, at a beachside restaurant adorned with string lights, he got down on one knee and asked her to marry him. She thought he was joking and said "NO" before quickly correcting to "YES." The entire restaurant cheered, and they celebrated with champagne and a FaceTime call to her parents.

They love their annual summer trips to NYC, a tradition that began at the start of their relationship and continues to this day. They both hate cooking but enjoy trying new restaurants, always saying, "Okay, this is the last time", as they click "Order" on UberEats. They also share a dream of owning multiple properties and having Josefa manage their own property management company.

After seven years, they’ve grown from 21-year-old dreamers to 28-year-old achievers, supporting each other every step of the way. She loves his humor and how safe he makes her feel. He adores her organizational skills and how she brings order to his chaos. She makes him a better man just by being herself.

This is their story—a perfect blend of laughter, love, and a few blunders. Perfectly imperfect, just like them.
